Neptune, New Jersey

Neptune Township is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey,in the United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, thetownship population was 27,935. Neptune was incorporated as atownship by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on February 26,1879, from portions of Ocean Township. Portions of the townshipwere taken to form Neptune City (October 4, 1881), Bradley Beach(March 13, 1893) and Ocean Grove (April 5, 1920, until it wasfound unconstitutional and restored to Neptune Township as ofJune 16, 1921).According to the United States Census Bureau, thetownship has a total area of 8.8 square miles (23 km2), of which8.2 square miles (21 km2) is land and 0.5 square miles (1.3km2), or 6.16%, is water. There are a number of parks in andnear Neptune, including the sizable Boswell Park. Ocean Grove(2010 Census population of 3,342) and Shark River Hills (pop.3,697) are census-designated places and unincorporated areaswithin Neptune Township. Other communities within NeptuneTownship are Mid-Town, Bradley Park, the Gables, Summerfield,Green Grove, Seaview Island and West Neptune.
